Ms. Ana Hinds

Position:

Bilingual Coordinator

“The teacher’s overriding moral purpose is to meet the needs of students, even when it conflicts with personal preferences” - Lorna Earle.

“Achieving results does require teachers and administrators, along with members of the larger community to spend a great deal of time and thought planning and focusing on each child and activity” – Karen Chenoweth.

Some of the objectives that I will be working on this year  are as follows:

·       Provide carefully planned professional development to teachers of English Learners in order to increase achievement of ELs in content area and ESL classes.

·       Lead ESL Department in analyzing High Point data in order to identify student weaknesses and create Tier I and II Intervention services for them within the classroom setting.

·       Structure and implement intervention services for English Learners beyond the classroom setting based on analysis of multiple sources of data to identify students not meeting benchmarks.

·       Communicate regularly with students and parents of English Learners in regards to academic growth and progress in English Language Acquisition.

·       Illustrate effective expression of ideas both in oral and written communication to all stakeholders.

·       Increase recruitment efforts for parent meetings by mailing home announcements via US mail, passing out flyers during dismissal and making personalized phone calls.

·       Implement more incentives for students and parents for attending the meetings, such as Free Dress Days and raffle prizes.

I look forward to working with the entire school community to make sure all our students’ need are met and that a higher percentage of EL students reclassify.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.
